Abstract
Percutaneous vertebroplasty with bone cement is a minimal invasive technique mainly for the treatment of vertebral fractures in osteoporosis and fractures due to spinal metastasis. This procedure is considered as safe and effective procedure that provides pain relief and stabilization. Complications of percutaneous vertebroplasty with bone cement were found to be rare and minor, except in some cases of major neurologic complication and pulmonary embolism. In addition, there are few reports for the development of painful pseudarthrosis after percutaneous vertebroplasty. The authors report a case of painful pseudarthrosis with necrosis in fractured vertebra and consecutive vertebra after percutaneous vertebroplasty for osteoporotic spine fracture.
Key Words: Percutaneous vertebroplasty, Complication, Pseudarthrosis
